Hime-shino

Sasaella kogasensis Nakai var. gracillima S.Suzuki
"Hime" means a queen and "shino" is small sized bamboo in Japanese.

Height is 40-60cm and 2-3mm in diameter.
Leaves are almost small size but beautiful green in growing season.
In winter the leaves become albo-marginated.

This bamboo is very popular for ground cover and greenery plant in ground.
It is widely sold in plant markets as the name of "Koguma-zasa" that means the small type
bamboo of Sasa vietchii".
Of course, this species is not same family of Sasa vietchii", but its image may be
the same with S. vietchii.
