"Hachiku" means a light colored bamboo.
One of three important species in Japan.
The size is 8-10cm in diameter and 18-20m in height.

This can be seen like a white culm, especially in new culm.
Because younger culms are covered with white powder.

Hardy, so it can grow near Sapporo, where is 7.6 degrees centigrade in annual mean temperature.

Due to a culm can be finely splitted, tea whisk can be made by this species only.

It is said that this bamboo shoots are very delicious.
